Composition Notebook Makeover

by frazzledmama on August 2, 2012

Aren’t these notebooks cute?  The kids love them and having unique designs helps everyone keep track of their own book.  What I do not like about them, is the price.

This week, we picked up a nice stack of these plain composition books for $.25 a piece at Office Depot.  While thrilled at the deal, I was a little sad about the lack of pizazz. So I attempted to dress up our plain Jane notebooks, and here is the result…

Using scrapbooking cardstock, I traced the front and back cover of the composition notebook.

I found that it was important to line up the paper straight on the binding of the book, and to trace each cover separately, as they are not the same size.

Next, I sprayed the notebook cover with spray adhesive, being careful not to get any on the binding.

Last, carefully place the paper on the adhesive covered notebook, and smooth the paper to ensure a strong bond.

Here is the final result.   This paper was pale pink marbled design, so I decided to dress it up a bit more.

Sorry, I blanked out the name to protect the innocent ;)

I am very please with the outcome, and plain to let each kiddo pick out scrapbook paper for their own notebook.  Not bad, a beautifully customized notebook for $2.25!
