Reading Motivation for Boys.

Sometimes Little Man does not want to do his reading.  Usually I don’t push, he is only 5.  However I have noticed that sometimes he is just being lazy, and on these occasions, I push.

Well, today was one of those days.  He was way more interested in playing with his little Lego guys, than in doing reading.  so, I took them away from him.

Then, I had an idea.  I started making the Lego guys talk about him.  One guy (the bad guy) would say “Oh, he can’t read that!” Then, the good one would say “Yes he can!”  You get the picture.

He thought this was hilarious, and worked really hard to prove the bad guy wrong.

In the end we sent the bad guy flying off the end of the bed.

The End.  Now, aren’t you glad you dropped by?

PS, next time you see Little Man, ask him to say “hilarious.”  It’s……hilarious!  :)

Jacob was the same way but finally found some books this summer to piqué his interest, so has been reading like mad lately! I will have to remember this idea for the next time he’s on strike! He lives Lego guys too.
