No Sew Pilgrim Chair Cover

by frazzledmama on November 20, 2008

This probably ought to be under Thanksgiving Activities, but logistics, and time are going to make me post it here.  Sorry!

I wanted to do something crafty and different this year for Thanksgiving.  I came up with this idea, and as most new ideas go, it took quite a bit of tweeking.  Now, I am just hoping to finish the last 2 so the kids can actually have them before Thanksgiving. (Has it been a crazy month for anyone but me?)  So, I think the step by step pictures are pretty self explanitory, but I’ll make some short comments along the way. Oh, and lest I forget, this is a no-sew project, hot glue only!

So, this was my idea, decorative chair covers….

So, I made the pilgrim face out of felt and attached it to a standard pillowcase (which probably needs to be hemmed :).

Pretty straight-forward, right?  I really like the way the 3-D hat came out.  But, then I was challenged with the nose.  Here’s what I came up with…

A small rectangular piece of felt,

then kind of roll it,

all the way, and here is the finished product…

Cute, no?

And the Pilgrim boy….

To make his hat 3-D, I had to make it in two parts, only the top rectangular portion gets glued down.  Then, I added the brown band, which helped make it more firm.  When I added the brown band, I was able to hot glue the edge or the 3-D part of the hat at the right angle, so it is sticking out…

Once I had the faces on pillowcases, I realized it was missing something, so I added a nice dark ribbon border.

There you have it, a no-sew pilgrim chair cover….

I am not sure I totally agree with you, but it is well stated. Keep up the good work.
